Overview

The process starts with the council through Social and Community Development Office and community leadership making arrangements to mobilize the community regarding empowerment projects. The community is consulted for their buy in, identification of their needs, and projects which will be relevant to their needs and problems and utilization of the empowerment programmes at their disposal.  Once the engagement is complete, other relevant processes are followed for implementation and monitoring of the programme.
Community economic projects are inclusive of the below examples;


•    Community farms 
•    Trusts
•    Leather works.
•    Bakery.
•    Textiles.
•    Food catering.
•    Horticulture gardens
Etc. 
 

Who is eligible?

•    Community members and vulnerable groups within the said community.
•    Must have a project idea that is addressing a specific problem within their community.
 

How do I get this service?

•    The Social and Community Development Officer facilitates the community and mobilize community in profiling themselves. These includes resource mobilization- mapping, SWOT analysis, and stakeholder mapping.
•    Based on the information provided, prioritized projects for community economic empowerment will come out clearly.
•    indicate preferred projects and verification process with all the stakeholders is done.
•    The Social and Community Development Officer would provide advisory on the prioritization of projects and possible funding. 
•    After the proposed projects are presented to all the leadership structures, a Project Memorandum of is submitted to the potential funder., be it Government and other private partners of NGOs.
