MANDATE
The Botswana Government Communications and Information Systems (BGCIS) was established by Presidential Directive Cab. 30/06.
The overall aim is to empower citizens and encourage their participation in democracy in order to improve their lives. To manage this, BGCIS has representation across all government ministries through the Public Relations officers.
FUNCTIONS
1.Manage and coordinate all government communications.
2. Promote effective and interactive communications between government and the public.
3. Promote a positive communication environment and improve the quality of government information and communication.
4. Ensures that stakeholders and customers are routinely provided with appropriate information in an authoritative, coherent and coordinated manner.

- Supports coordination of national events
5. Media Accreditation
- Facilitates accreditation of national and international media houses
