Overview

The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) was established in accordance with section 27 (1) of the Illicit Traffic in Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances act of 2018. 

The Agency is mandated to collect, collate and disseminate information in illegal use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances; receive, investigate any complaint of alleged or suspected breach of the Act; address and advise Government Ministries and Departments, public bodies, institutions, companies, statutory bodies and corporations on ways and means of preventing prohibited activities relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances,  disseminate information and educate the public on dangers and effects of drug abuse or psychotropic substances, enlist and foster public support against drug abuse or psychotropic substances.

Areas of Responsibility

To combat and eradicate the illicit production and supply of, demand for and traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
