Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of International Relations Ambassador Mmamosadinyana Molefe, received a high-level delegation from Burkina-Faso this morning. The delegation comprising four Special Advisors to His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traore, President of the Republic of Burkina-Faso, is in Botswana on a benchmarking exercise in areas of governance, mining and mineral resource management, governance, finance and banking systems.
The visit comes in the wake of a recent bilateral engagement between President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko and President Traore in Accra, Ghana on the margins of the inauguration of Ghanaβs President.
Speaking during the meeting, the leader of the delegation Professor Nicolas Kagambega said Botswana is a good example of good governance, democracy and transparent management of natural resources for the benefit of her citizens. He added that the visit is a preliminary step into bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Molefe expressed gratitude and appreciation to the team for having chosen Botswana for this exercise. She wished the team well as they embark on a four day excercise, meeting different stakeholders in the aforementioned sectors. The delegation is expected to egage with the; Ministry for State President, Attorney Generalβs Chambers, Ministry of Minerals and Energy, Diamond Trading Company Botswana, DEBSWANA Diamond Company and Bank of Botswana.
